Q&A With Pivotal Fitness RedZone Coach, Rob Spragis
1. What is your favorite exercise that you use most frequently to train your clients, and why?
My favorite exercise to do with clients would be Rowing. Rowing is an excellent way to elevate the heart rate and it is also a no-impact exercise which helps prevent excessive pain/soreness afterwards. It is an exercise that truly works the whole body including the core and has been very successful in weight loss, strength training and cardiovascular endurance programs.
2. How do you stay motivated throughout the year to stick to your fitness routine?
Staying motivated can be challenging over the course of a long year which is why I believe accountability is everything. Knowing that my clients are looking to me to help guide them towards their goals motivates me to stay on top of my own. I have to lead by example as well as through words. Everyday I am presented with an excuse as to why someone “can’t” or “won’t” do something and that their program failure “isn’t their fault”. I stay on top of my own routine to show that there is always a way to get something accomplished in a certain way even if its only a few minutes.
3. What tip would you give to people that are struggling to stay on track?
Struggling to stay on track can be a result of a wide variety of life factors and it can get overwhelming at times. My advice to combat that is to first prioritize your daily schedule and responsibilities so that you can identify what needs to stay and what can be adjusted. From there, lets set small, realistic, attainable goals that we know will fit within our newly organized schedule. Its just as much about the emotional victory of achieving something as it is physically so lets set ourselves up for success as often as possible.
4. What is your favorite inspirational quote or mantra?
“Stay Humble. Stay Hopeful.” These words keep me grounded and realistic no matter what I’m feeling on any day. If I’m feeling on top of the world they remind me to stay humble and grounded. When things are not going well they remind me to stay hopeful and optimistic that life will turn back up in time.
